The City of Grande Prairie’s Youth Advisory Council is partnering with The Debtless Students to host a free virtual education session on how to start budgeting and saving, as well as learn about credit, loans, and investments.
The virtual session will take place on Sunday, March 20 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and is open to teenagers and post-secondary students. To register for the Zoom session visit cityofgp.com/events or find the Youth Advisory Council on Facebook or Instagram for more information.
Youth Advisory Council identified that financial education was an important topic for youth and young adults to learn about and expand their knowledge for future financial stability. This led two Council members, Grace Larson and Avalon Heemskerk, to make the connection with The Debtless Students.
The Debtless Students is a federally incorporated non-profit organization helping students fund post-secondary education. With their expansive team of major scholarship recipients and finance students, they specialize in guiding students to the right solutions so that they can achieve a debt-free future, regardless of socioeconomic background. The Debtless Students is co-founded by former Youth Advisory Council member, Shubh Patel.
