Snow Clearing Update - February 22 to 25

There are two main ways the City runs snow plowing and ice control operations:

Priority Road Plowing and Ice Control
  • Occurs continuously throughout the winter in response to changing weather conditions.
  • The goal is to plow arterial (priority 1) and secondary (priority 2) roads to maintain clear access for emergency vehicles and general commuters.
  • Includes ice control operations such as sanding and salting, as well as windrow pick-up.
Residential Snow Clearing
  • Occurs in two-week rotations only when triggered by the City.
  • If a neighbourhood is not complete in week one, crews will return in week two.
  • Operated Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The City hires contracted crews to plow residential roads.

Tuesday

Patterson and South Patterson and Southview.

Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South, Signature Falls and Country Club West.

Wednesday

Avondale, College Park and Swanavon.

Cobblestone, Fieldbrook, Highland Park, Riverstone and Smith.

Thursday

Kensington, Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake and Stone Ridge.

Pinnacle Ridge and Westpointe.

Friday

Arbour Hills, Gateway, Northridge, Royal Oaks and Westgate.

Lakeland, Crystal Ridge, Copperwood, and Crystal Lake Estates.

February 25, 2022: 

  • City crews are patrolling priority roads applying a sand/salt mix as needed.
  • Crews are picking up windrows on priority 2 roads in Country Club, Patterson Place and South Patterson.
  • Crews are putting up windrows on priority 2 roads in Avondale, Royal Oaks, Crystal Ridge and Lakeland.
  • Special ice removal operations continue in residential areas.
    • Today, crews are in the neighbourhoods of Arbour Hills, Copperwood, Crystal Lake Estates, Crystal Ridge, Gateway, Lakeland, Northridge and Royal Oaks. 
  • City crews continue to plow and sand the trail network. 

February 24, 2022: 

  • City crews are monitoring priority roads for icy areas and sanding as needed.
  • Crews are picking up windrows on priority 2 roads in Countryside North, Countryside South and Country Club Estates. 
  • Crews are putting up windrows on priority 2 roads in Mission Heights, O'Brien Lake, Pinnacle Ridge and Westpoint.
  • Contracted crews continue with special ice removal operations in residential areas.
    • Today, crews are in the neighbourhoods of Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake, Pinnacle Ridge, Stone Ridge and Westpointe.

  • Crews are plowing and sanding the trail network.

February 23, 2022: 

  • City crews continue to monitor the priority road network and sand as needed.
  • Crews are picking up windrows on 108 Avenue, 102 Street, and 101 Street north of 103 Avenue. 
  • Crews are putting up windrows on priority 2 roads in Highland Park, Swanavon and Avondale.
  • Special ice removal operations continue in residential areas.
    • Today, crews are in the neighbourhoods of Avondale, Cobblestone, College Park, Fieldbrook, Highland Park, Riverstone, Smith and Swanavon.
  • Snow and ice control is in progress on all trails.

February 22,  2022:

  • City crews are actively sanding priority 1 and 2 roads. 
  • Priority 1 plowing is underway on 98 Street and 108 Avenue. 
  • Week two of special ice removal operations continue in residential areas.
    • Today, crews are in the neighbourhoods of Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South, Country Club West, Patterson and South Patterson, Southview, and Signature Falls.

  • Crews are plowing and sanding the trail network.
