Delegations
Members of the Peace Library System presented to the new Council on their organization and its relationship with Grande Prairie Public Library.
The director of the Grande Prairie Public Library introduced themselves to the new Council and provided an organizational update, including collaborations with the Peace Library System.
Daryl Hewko presented to Council regarding COVID-19 response.
Raphael Bohlmann presented regarding community safety and wellbeing along 68th Avenue.
Rhonda Hewko presented regarding COVID-19 vaccinations.
Intermunicipal Collaboration Framework
Today, the County of Grande Prairie and City of Grande Prairie signed a historic agreement adopting a new Intermunicipal Collaboration Framework.
Mandated by the provincial Municipal Government Act, the framework aims to:
• Provide for integrated planning, delivery and funding of intermunicipal services
• Allocate scarce resources efficiently to provide local services
• Ensure municipalities contribute funding to services that benefit their residents

Vaccination and Rapid Testing Policy
Council directed Administration to repeal the Vaccination and Rapid Testing Administrative Policy within 24 hours following announcement by the Province of lifting of the Restrictions Exemption Program at City facilities.
Indigenous Advisor Position
Council directed Administration to proceed with development of an Indigenous Advisor position within the organization.
Having a dedicated position is an important step in building a strong reconciliation framework for the City and will help improve communication, relationships, and opportunities with the Indigenous community.
GPRRC Crosslink County Sportsplex Expansion Report
Council accepted the Crosslink County Sportsplex Expansion report as presented and support the project in principle with no financial commitment at this time.
The project is referred back to the Grande Prairie Regional Recreation Committee for further evaluation.
Naming Dedication - Hockey Legends Lounge
Council approved the official naming of the Hockey Legends Lounge located on the third level of the Coca-Cola Centre.
Grant Allocations
Council approved funding allocation in the following amounts as recommended by the Community Advisory Committee:
- Arts Development Festival Funding to the Filipino Association of Grande Prairie and Area in the amount of $10,000;
- Arts Development Festival Funding to the Grande Prairie and District Music Festival Association in the amount of $1,000;
- Arts Development Festival Funding to the ACFA - regionale de Grande Prairie in the amount of $10,000;
- Arts Development Festival Funding to the Reel Shorts Film Society in the amount of $12,000;
- Arts Development Festival Funding to the Centre for Creative Arts in the amount of $10,000;
- Arts Development Festival Funding to the Troyanda Society of Ukrainian Culture and Heritage in the amount of $10,000;
- Arts Development Festival Funding to the Native Counselling Services Alberta in the amount of $5,000;
- Arts Development Operational Funding to the Peace Region Independent Media Arts Association in the amount of $5,000; and
- Arts Development Operational Funding to the Grande Prairie Music Society in the amount of $5,000
Public Hearings
Council passed amendments to the Kensington Outline Plan and Land Use Bylaw Amendment to allow for the development of 14 single detached houses, each with a secondary suite.
The area was previously zoned as RC - Combined Residential, which allows townhouses and small-scale apartment buildings, therefore, very little change to the number of dwelling units is anticipated from these amendments.
Council passed amendments to the Kingsgate Landing Outline Plan and Land Use Bylaw to allow for narrow lot single detached housing with both front and rear driveways.
Public Member Appointments
Council appointed Melissa Erickson to the Grande Prairie Public Library Board.
