Petition to Repeal Bylaw C-1426 Temporary Mandatory Face Covering (Mask) Bylaw
City Council received for information a Declaration of Insufficiency signed by the City Manager regarding a petition to repeal the temporary mandatory face covering (mask) bylaw. Petitions require signatures from 10% of the electors, this petition did not meet this requirement.
Boards and Committees
City Council appointed public members to seven different boards and committees.
Emergency Community Group Funding - Grande Prairie Curling Centre
City Council approved Emergency Community Group Funding in the amount of $100,000 for the Grande Prairie Curling Centre.
Borrowing Bylaw C-1428 - Operating Line of Credit
Grande Prairie City Council approved the Borrowing Bylaw C-1428 that allows the City to take out a $5M Operating Line of Credit if the need arises.
Canadian Mental Health Association Request
City Council supported a payment of $100,471.20 + $5,500 penalty to Willow Place. The support is conditional on the Canadian Mental Health Association bringing forward a financially viable affordable housing project supported in part by the loan forgiveness.
Bylaw C1167A – Brochu Industrial Park Servicing Bylaw
City Council approved Bylaw C-1167A, being the Brochu Industrial Park Servicing Bylaw. The amendments provide more options for developers to service land in this area. The City requires both water and sewer be provided to a parcel of land in order to subdivide. The amendment allows subdivision in the Brochu Industrial Park to subdivide with only providing water to the site as the parcels in this area currently have on-site sewage solutions.
Bylaw C-1310 – Use of Parkland Bylaw
City Council approved Bylaw C-1310, being the Use of Parkland Bylaw.
Letter from Alberta Justice and Solicitor General
Council accepted for information, a letter from the Honourable Kaycee Madu, Alberta Justice and Solicitor General regarding local policing initiatives.
Southeast ASP Amendment C-1060; Land Use Bylaw Amendment C-1260-127
City Council approved amendments to the Southeast ASP, allowing for the development of an indoor recreation facility in the Smith subdivision.
Land Use Bylaw Amendment C-1260-129
City Council approved an amendment to the Land-Use Bylaw C-1260-129, changing the site layout of an outdoor commercial storage facility.
Land Use Bylaw Amendment C-1260-131
City Council approved an amendment to the Land Use Bylaw C-126-131 that allows a site in the Gateway neighbourhood to be used for permanent supportive housing.
Road Closure Bylaw C-1427
City Council approved the closure of an undeveloped road in the Gateway neighbourhood.
