Keeping up their annual summer tradition, the Forbes Homestead is excited to announce dates for their afternoon teas, with new physical distancing protocols in place.

The afternoon teas take place at the Reverend Forbes Homestead on the following dates:

  • Wednesday August 26 at 1:00 p.m.
  • Thursday August 27  at 1:00 p.m.

The event features canopies set up on the front and side lawns, with tables set up for 4-6 people. Scones with jam and butter and a choice of tea, coffee or lemonade is being served.

Registration for the event is $5.00 per person. Reservations are required; tables can be booked through the Grande Prairie Museum at 780-830-7090. Residents are encouraged to reserve in groups of 4-6 people within their cohort.

To meet provincial health guidelines, tables will be spaced apart to meet physical distancing requirements. Scones will be individually wrapped, and single-serve butter, jams, milks and creamers will be used this year.

About the Reverend Forbes Homestead

The  Reverend Forbes Homestead and Pioneer Hospital is Grande Prairie's oldest log home and the first hospital and a designated Provincial Historical Resource Site. Mrs. Forbes was one of the earliest pioneers in Grande Prairie.  Her door was open to all for medical assistance, advice, a friendly chat and a cup of tea.  The Grande Prairie Museum is pleased to carry on her tradition to the present day.

The Reverend Forbes Homestead is operated by the Grande Prairie Museum and is located behind the QEII Hospital (10424 96 Street).
