Playground projects in Muskoseepi Park and Maskwoteh Park are scheduled to be open to public later this summer as final construction commences.

Muskoseepi Park

Completion of construction on the Muskoseepi Park playground project officially started up again on May 30.

Contractors are scheduled to be on site to complete the final installation of the base materials. This work includes a final compaction of the  base followed by the installation of a 6 inch layer of drainage rock throughout the playground area.

The next step in the process will see the installation of a protective fall surfacing. Once installed, the 6675 square foot rubber tile surface will permit full wheel chair access within the new playground border. This surface will be red in colour and feature 18 Muskoseepi Park Bear logos to maintain the overall theme within the two play areas.

The City of Grande Prairie was recently awarded a grant for $69,905 to help offset associated costs for the installation of the accessible surfacing through the Enabling Accessibility Fund offered by the Government of Canada.

Weather dependant, it is anticipated that all work will finished between July 1-15

Once complete, the new accessible playground has been designed for children between the ages of 5-12 years. 

Maskwoteh Park

Final landscaping around the new 8 bay swing pods that were installed in Maskwoteh Park late last fall also commenced on May 30.

The swing pod includes four brand new, specially designed swings that accommodate a toddler and parent together in the same swing bay, allowing them to face each other and enjoy the swing together.

An additional four belt-style swings seats are also available for children 5 years and older.

Once complete, this additional play space within Maskwoteh Park is anticipated to be open to public by June 15.
