Here are the highlights from the City Council meeting held on March 25, 2019:
Delegations
A delegation from the Grande Prairie Friendship Centre presented on a project to create a monument for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women in Grande Prairie. Council moved to have the Mayor write a letter of support for the project.
Multiple community members presented as delegates. Their presentations were received for information.
Amendments to the Vision West Business Park Outline Plan and Land Use Bylaw
Council approved the amendments to the Vision West Business Park Outline Plan and the Land Use Bylaw. The proposed amendments will allow the Grande Prairie Catholic School Board to build a bus maintenance facility. The proposal utilizes Municipal Reserve lands in an area with compatible land uses.
2019 Business Lending Bylaw C-1396- Loan to Swan City Hockey Association
Council approved the 2019 Business Lending Bylaw C-1396, being a loan to the Swan City Hockey Association.
Amendments to the Combative Sports Commission Bylaw C-1173F
Council approved amendments to the Combative Sports Commission Bylaw C-1173F. This amendment updates medical requirements and adjusts the fees for judges in professional and amateur bouts.
Social Sustainability Framework
Council endorsed the update to the Social Sustainability Framework. The framework is a roadmap for community partners and stakeholders as to the kind of programs and collaborations that can positively impact the lives of Grande Prairie residents. The document is intended to evolve as the community changes.
2019 Supplementary Property Assessment Bylaw C-1400
Council approved the 2019 Supplementary Property Assessment Bylaw C-1400. This bylaw allows the City to assess property having newly constructed buildings or major additions and renovations in the same year as they are completed and occupied.

Council approved the 2019 Supplementary Property Tax Bylaw C-1401.
