With just over a week until kick-off, facilities across the City of Grande Prairie and County of Grande Prairie are getting ready to welcome visitors and residents alike for the 2018 Alberta Summer Games.

Both recreational and cultural facilities throughout the host communities will be on display for the games.

The Opening Ceremonies mark the official start of the games on Thursday, July 19 at the Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum in the County of Grande Prairie. This outdoor event will feature a variety of entertainment with music, dance, and the entry of the traditional Games Torch.

"The County of Grande Prairie is proud and excited to co-host the Games," said Leanne Beaupre, County of Grande Prairie Reeve. "We hope residents and visitors take full advantage of the games and join the community in the wide-array of cultural events taking place."

"We're eager to extend our well-known Peace Region hospitality to all the athletes, coaches, families and supporters and hope they have a wonderful experience during this event."
