Snow Clearing Update December 29-31

There are two main ways the City runs snow plowing and ice control operations:

Priority Road Plowing and Ice Control
  • Occurs continuously throughout the winter in response to changing weather conditions.
  • The goal is to plow arterial (priority 1) and secondary (priority 2) roads to maintain clear access for emergency vehicles and general commuters.
  • Includes ice control operations such as sanding and salting, as well as windrow pick-up.
Residential Snow Clearing
  • Occurs in two-week rotations only when triggered by the City.
  • If a neighbourhood is not complete in week one, crews will return in week two.
  • Operated Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The City hires contracted crews to plow residential roads.

Crystal Heights, Crystal Landing, Summit and Ivy Lake Estates.

Tuesday

Patterson and South Patterson and Southview.

Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South, Signature Falls and Country Club West.

Wednesday

Avondale, College Park and Swanavon.

Cobblestone, Fieldbrook, Highland Park, Riverstone and Smith.

Thursday

Kensington, Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake and Stone Ridge.

Pinnacle Ridge and Westpointe.

Friday

Arbour Hills, Gateway, Northridge, Royal Oaks and Westgate.

Lakeland, Crystal Ridge, Copperwood, and Crystal Lake Estates.

December 31, 2021

  • Crews are continuing ongoing residential clearing efforts
  • Crews are starting clearing in Friday neighbourhoods including Arbour Hills, Copperwood, Crystal Lake Estates, Crystal Ridge, Gateway, Lakeland, Northridge, and Royal Oaks
  • Windrows are being picked up in Patterson Place and Country Club

  • Crews have completed plowing priority one roads and are working on priority two and three roads

  • Sander and plow trucks are on all priority roads for ice control

  • Snow and ice control is in progress on all trails

  • A parking ban remains in effect on all priority roads from Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.

December 30, 2021

  • Crews are continuing residential clearing in Tuesday and Wednesday neighbourhoods
  • Crews are starting clearing in Thursday neighbourhoods including Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake, Pinnacle Ridge, Stone Ridge, and Westpointe
  • Windrows are being picked up in Westpointe and Pinnacle Ridge
  • Crews have completed plowing priority one roads and are working on priority two and three roads
  • Sander and plow trucks are on all priority roads for ice control
  • Snow and ice control is in progress on all trails
  • A parking ban remains in effect on all priority roads from Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.

  • Crews are starting clearing today in Avondale, Cobblestone, College Park, Fieldbrook, Highland Park, Riverstone, Smith, and Swanavon

  • Windrows are being picked up in Westpointe and Pinnacle

  • Crews have completed plowing priority one roads and are working on priority two and three roads
  • Sander and plow trucks are on all priority roads for ice control
  • Snow and ice control is in progress on all trails
  • A parking ban remains in effect on all priority roads from Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.
