Snow Clearing Updates for March 15 to 19, 2021

There are two main ways the City runs snow plowing and ice control operations:

Priority Road Plowing and Ice Control
  • Occurs continuously throughout the winter in response to changing weather conditions.
  • The goal is to plow arterial (priority 1) and secondary (priority 2) roads to maintain clear access for emergency vehicles and general commuters.
  • Includes ice control operations such as sanding and salting, as well as windrow pick-up.
Residential Snow Clearing
  • Occurs in two-week rotations only when triggered by the City.
  • If a neighbourhood is not complete in week one, crews will return in week two.
  • Operated Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The City hires contracted crews to plow residential roads.

Crystal Heights, Crystal Landing, Summit and Ivy Lake Estates.

Tuesday

Patterson and South Patterson and Southview.

Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South, Signature Falls and Country Club West.

Wednesday

Avondale, College Park and Swanavon.

Cobblestone, Fieldbrook, Highland Park, Riverstone and Smith.

Thursday

Kensington, Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake and Stone Ridge.

Pinnacle Ridge and Westpointe.

Friday

Arbour Hills, Gateway, Northridge, Royal Oaks and Westgate.

Lakeland, Crystal Ridge, Copperwood, and Crystal Lake Estates.

March 19, 2021: 

City Crews are: 

  • sanding priority roads as needed.
  • thawing catch basins.
  • filling potholes on priority 1 and 2 roads.
  • removing piles of snow from cul-de-sacs and clearing areas with water and drainage issues in Northridge, Royal Oaks, Lakeland, and Crystal Lake.

March 17, 2021:

City crews are:

  • patrolling the priority road network and trails to sand as needed.
  • thawing catch basins in Mission Heights and Country Club to ensure proper water flow. 

March 16, 2021: 

City crews are: 

  • patrolling the priority road network and trails to sand as needed. 
  • thawing catch basins in Cobblestone to ensure proper water flow. 

March 15, 2021:

City crews are: 

  • actively sanding the priority road network and trail network.
  • thawing catch basins throughout the City to ensure proper water flow.
