Snow Clearing Updates for January 25 to January 29, 2021

There are two main ways the City runs snow plowing and ice control operations:

Priority Road Plowing and Ice Control
  • Occurs continuously throughout the winter in response to changing weather conditions.
  • The goal is to plow arterial (priority 1) and secondary (priority 2) roads to maintain clear access for emergency vehicles and general commuters.
  • Includes ice control operations such as sanding and salting, as well as windrow pick-up.
Residential Snow Clearing
  • Occurs in two-week rotations only when triggered by the City.
  • If a neighbourhood is not complete in week one, crews will return in week two.
  • Operated Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The City hires contracted crews to plow residential roads.

Hillside, Mountview and VLA/Montrose.

Crystal Heights, Crystal Landing, Summit and Ivy Lake Estates.

Tuesday

Patterson and South Patterson and Southview.

Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South, Signature Falls and Country Club West.

Wednesday

Avondale, College Park and Swanavon.

Cobblestone, Fieldbrook, Highland Park, Riverstone and Smith.

Thursday

Kensington, Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake and Stone Ridge.

Pinnacle Ridge and Westpointe.

Friday

Arbour Hills, Gateway, Northridge, Royal Oaks and Westgate.

Lakeland, Crystal Ridge, Copperwood, and Crystal Lake Estates.

January 29, 2021:

  • City crews are actively sanding/salting the priority road network and the trail network.

  • City crews are actively sanding/salting the priority road network and trail network. 
  • General clean-up of residential areas continues.

January 27, 2021:

  • City crews have worked through Wednesday and Thursday residential areas doing general clean-up. Today, they are in Friday residential areas doing general clean-up. 
  • Sanding/salting of the priority road network and trail network is ongoing.

January 26, 2021:

  • City crews are actively sanding and salting the priority road network and trail network. 
  • View a map of priority roads in the snow clearing brochure.
  • Crews are also in Tuesday areas doing general clean-up.

January 25, 2021:

  • Over the weekend, City crews completed plowing all priority roads.
  • They are actively sanding/salting all priority roads and the City's trail network.
  • View a map of priority roads in the snow clearing brochure.
