Snow Clearing Updates for March 2 to 6, 2020

There are two main ways the City runs snow plowing and ice control operations:

Priority Road Plowing and Ice Control
  • Occurs continuously throughout the winter in response to changing weather conditions.
  • The goal is to plow arterial (priority 1) and secondary (priority 2) roads to maintain clear access for emergency vehicles and general commuters.
  • Includes ice control operations such as sanding and salting, as well as windrow pick-up.
Residential Snow Clearing
  • Occurs in two-week rotations only when triggered by the City.
  • If a neighbourhood is not complete in week one, crews will return in week two.
  • Operated Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The City hires contracted crews to plow residential roads.

Patterson and South Patterson and Southview.

Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South, Signature Falls and Country Club West.

Wednesday

Avondale, College Park and Swanavon.

Cobblestone, Fieldbrook, Highland Park, Riverstone and Smith.

Thursday

Kensington, Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake and Stone Ridge.

Pinnacle Ridge and Westpointe.

Friday

Arbour Hills, Gateway, Northridge, Royal Oaks and Westgate.

Lakeland, Crystal Ridge, Copperwood, and Crystal Lake Estates.

March 6, 2020:

  • Residential snow clearing continues in the neighbourhoods of Gateway, Arbour Hills, Royal Oaks, Northridge, Crystal Ridge, Lakeland, Crystal Lake Estates and Copperwood
  • Snow clearing and ice control of all priority routes is in progress 
  • Snow clearing along the trail network is in progress
  • A parking ban remains in effect

March 5, 2020:

  • Residential snow clearing continues in the neighbourhoods of Westpointe, Pinnacle, O'Brien Lake, Mission Heights and Stoneridge.

  • City crews continue to monitor all priority routes, as well as the trail network for ice control.

  • A parking ban on all priority routes is in effect.

March 4, 2020: 

  • Residential snow clearing continues in the neighbourhoods of Avondale, Cobblestone, College Park, Fieldbrook, Highland Park, Riverstone, Smith, and Swanavon.
  • Tomorrow, residential snow clearing crews will be working in the neighbourhoods of Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake, Pinnacle Ridge, Stone Ridge, and Westpointe.
  • City crews continue to plow and sand all priority routes, as well as the trail network. 
  • A parking ban on all priority routes is in effect.

March 3, 2020: 

  • A round of residential snow clearing began yesterday, today, crews are plowing in the neighbourhoods of Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South, Country Club West, Patterson and South Patterson, Southview, and Signature Falls.
  • Tomorrow, residential crews are expected to be plowing in the neighbourhoods of Avondale, Cobblestone, College Park, Fieldbrook, Highland Park, Riverstone, Smith, and Swanavon.
  • City crews are plowing and sanding all priority routes. 
  • Crews are also plowing and sanding the City's trail network.

March 2, 2020: 

  • The City has initiated a round of residential snow clearing. Today, crews are in the neighbourhoods of Crystal Heights, Crystal Landing, Hillside, Ivy Lake Estates, Mountview, Summit, and VLA/Montrose.
  • Tomorrow, residential snow clearing crews are expected to be in the neighbourhoods of Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South, Country Club West, Patterson and South Patterson, Southview, and Signature Falls.
  • City crews are also plowing and sanding priority 1, 2, and 3 routes.
  • City staff are monitoring "thaw/freeze" weather conditions and responding with appropriate operations as needed.
