Shauna Baird and Omarla Cooke from St. Joseph Catholic High School presented an idea to Council on painting a school crosswalk to represent reconciliation efforts. Council directed Administration to report back to the appropriate standing committee with the information required to support the request.
Alison Steele presented to Council regarding her experience with the Transit Redesign. The presentation was received for information.
Council Remuneration and Expense Reimbursement Policy Amendments
Council approved amendments to Policy 100 - Council Remuneration and Expense Reimbursement to update the list of mandatory events for Council, accommodation and subsistence rates, and other information that is no longer current.
Grant Recommendations
Council approved grant recommendations from the Community Advisory Committee for Arts Development Funding and Pursuit of Excellent Funding.
Subdivision Authority Officer Appointment
Council appointed Olayemi Babalola and Alison Downing as Subdivision Authority Officers to exercise subdivision powers, duties and functions on behalf of the City.
Snow & Ice Control Services for 2023 Budget Referral
Council accepted recommendations to refer select enhanced Snow and Ice Control services to the 2023 budget deliberations.
Council moved to take reasonable steps to enhance the service standard for snow removal at transit stops for the remainder for 2022, to be funded via the Council Strategic Priority fund.
Notice of Intention to Designate the Grande Prairie Courthouse
Council issued a Notice of Intention to designate the Grande Prairie Courthouse located at 9904-101 Avenue as a Municipal Historic Resource under Section 26 of the Alberta Historical Resources Act.
Alberta Community Partnership Program Grant Application for Regional Handibus Project
Council supported involvement with the Regional Handibus Project and is supporting the County of Grande Prairie’s application to the 2022 Alberta Community Partnership (ACP) Intermunicipal Collaboration Grant for this project.
Broadleaf Weed Control
Council is deferring discussion of contracted spraying to the 2023 budget deliberations.
Council directed Administration to develop a report for the appropriate standing committee on potential for a naturalization pilot program along arterial roads, including a public education program.
Public Hearings
Council passed an amendment to the Municipal Development Plan and directed Administration to add the proposed fee of $61.48 per hectare to the draft Fees, Rates and Charges Bylaw to be presented to Council during November budget deliberations.
Council defeated Land Use Bylaw Amendment C-1260-160.
Council passed an amendment to the Land Use Bylaw to increase the number of enabled uses in the DC-24 by adding a Child Care Facility, RV Storage, and Agricultural Operation to the existing enabled uses in the district.
