Delegations

The Grande Prairie & District Golden Age Centre presented to Council in regards to expansion of their facility.

Heena Angral presented to Council to express thanks for their support of the First Chariot Festival of Grande Prairie and to start discussions for next year.

The Salvation Army presented to Council with a funding request for a capital commitment to assist the Salvation Army in purchasing a new building to expand its food bank warehouse and community services operations.

Steve Swindlehurst presented to Council regarding public safety and business concerns on 99 St. south of TWP 670 and RR54 north of TWP 670.

Bear Creek Dam Engagement Plan 

Council directed Administration to bring the Bear Creek Dam Engagement Plan back with further information at a future Council meeting.  

Leasing of City Owned Parking Lot 

Council voted to remove the public parking designation for the subject properties on 99 Ave. and directed Administration to create a potential leasing opportunity. 

Council directed Administration to bring back a report with parking opportunities, including potential revenue and expenses.

Competitive Process- Former York Hotel 

Council directed Administration to create and administer a competitive process for the sale of the lots of the former York Hotel and Germain Park sites. 

Alberta Municipalities Nominations

Council approved Councillor Bressey's nomination for Alberta Municipalities Vice President, Cities up to 500,000.

Canadian Mental Health Property Transfer Request

Council directed Administration to enter negotiations with Canadian Mental Health Association about a proposed Property Transfer Agreement to enable potential future expansion.

Policy 203 Amendments

Council approved amendments to Reduced Cost/Free Use of Facilities/Equipment Policy 203 to enhance the efficiency of the process, ensuring fair and optimal distribution of facilities and equipment among community groups.

Policy 623 - Securities for Construction on Public Lands and Private Lands

Council approved Policy 623 - Securities for Construction on Public Lands and Private Lands; and rescinded Policy 612 - Land Development Municipal Improvement.

The new policy will provide clear and consistent requirements for securities on projects within the City.

2024 Q2 Financial Report

Council received the unaudited financial statements and supporting information for the period ending June 30, 2024 for information.

Land Use Bylaw Amendment C-1260-185

Council passed Land Use Bylaw Amendment C-1260-185 to accommodate the appropriate use classification change which would allow for the expansion of the current facility.

Transportation System Bylaw C-1477

Council approved Transportation System Bylaw C-1477. 

The revised transportation system identified in the bylaw meets the expectations of Alberta Transportation and conforms to the City's adopted short term and long-range planning documents and most recent Transportation Master Plan.

Maskwa Medical Facility Borrowing & Lending Bylaws

Council passed the Maskwa Medical Facility Borrowing and Lending Bylaws.
