Here are the highlights from the City Council meeting held on July 15, 2019

Long-Term Economic Development Strategic Plan

City Council approved the long-term economic development strategic plan as presented. The plan outlines an economic development strategy for the City to follow for the next 20 years. 

Disabled Transportation Society Funding

Council approved the continuation of funding for the Disabled Transportation Society to September 1, 2019. 

Land Use Bylaw Amendments

Council approved two changes to the Land Use Bylaw:

  • Bylaw C-1260-106 rezones land in the neighbourhood north of Westgate East from combined residential to general residential. This allows the applicant to build a single detached dwelling with a secondary suite.
  • Bylaw C-1260-107 allows a greater timeframe for developers to complete onsite paving of land designated for non-residential uses, prior to paying securities. Paving must be completed before the owners may occupy the space.

2020 Community Group Funding Allocation

City Council directed management to keep the overall amount budgeted for 2020 Community Group Funding at the same level as in 2019.

Funding for Pickleball Courts

City Council referred a discussion regarding funding for more pickleball courts to budget deliberations in the fall of 2020.
