City Council approved a new Fees, Rates and Charges Bylaw at a Special Council Meeting held on June 6.
The new bylaw incorporates all fees and charges into a consolidated bylaw with an updated fee schedule, which will provide ease of administration and enable regular review. Previously, fees and charges were recognized across multiple bylaws and policies.
As part of the approved 2019-2022 Budget, a comprehensive review was done of fees and charges across the City. All fees and charges were evaluated as part of this review and adjustments proposed, where it was reasonable to do so. The consolidated bylaw and fee schedule included a review and assessment of rates across comparable municipalities.
This strategy is expected to realize $225,000 in additional revenue for the City for the period of July 1- December 31, 2019 while having minimal economic impact to users.
All changes go into effect on July 1, 2019. The bylaw will be available online at that time on the City’s Bylaw Directory.
