Update as of 9:40 a.m. on Monday, October 31, 2022: The contractor has closed this site for the winter months and will return in the spring to resume construction. The temporary gravel surface trail is now open to the public.

On Friday, October 14, a section of trail north of 68 Avenue on the west side of Bear Creek is closing for crews to safely carry out slope repair work.

Sections of the asphalt trail will be removed to do the work and restored to an acceptable gravel surface over winter. These sections of trails are going to be repaved in the spring of 2023.

Trail users can detour around the site by navigating the trail between 102 Street and Kateri Drive. Trail closure signs are being placed on site before construction begins. The red line in the map below indicates the location of the trail closure.

Intermittent lane restrictions are occurring during construction on 68 Avenue westbound, west of the bridge to allow crews to access the site for the delivery of materials and equipment. Adjacent residents may hear noise during work.

The temporary trail is anticipated to reopen in early December, weather permitting.

The City thanks everyone for their patience and cooperation during construction.
