Phase 5 of the City’s annual Road Rehabilitation Program will begin on Monday, August 5.

This phase will see roadwork in four locations:

  • Swanavon area/Central Business District Area, on 100 Street between 84 Avenue and 99 Avenue.
  • In the Highland Park area, on 88 Avenue between 98 Street and Resources Road.
  • On Resources Road, between 88 Avenue and 100 Avenue, and
  • On 100 Street between 101 Avenue and 104 Avenue.

Depending on location work may include cold milling, asphalt overlay, storm sewer infrastructure repairs, hot mix asphalt placement, concrete work, line painting, and landscaping.

The City and contractor aim to minimize traffic delays throughout the project. It is expected that some locations will be down to one lane alternating traffic at some times. The posted speed limit will be reduced to 30km/h throughout construction zones. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes whenever possible.

Weather permitting, the roadway upgrades are expected to be complete by the end of September. Residents and Business Owners with specific inquires may call the Citizen Contact Centre at 780-538-0300.

 

About Road Rehabilitation

Throughout the summer, $9.7 million will be invested in the City’s road network through all phases of the annual road rehabilitation program. The investment helps prolong the life of existing roadways and replace roadways at the end of their life.
