The City of Grande Prairie is currently hiring for an Indigenous Relations Advisor to join the organization.

The position is a new role and is part of the City’s commitment to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Calls-to-Action. Its purpose is to provide leadership, cultural expertise, consultation, and guidance to lead the development and implementation of a Reconciliation Framework and Action Plan for the City of Grande Prairie.

“Hiring of this position is a significant step forward on the pathway to reconciliation for the City of Grande Prairie,” says Angela Sutherland, Community Social Development Manager. “This position plays a key role in ensuring our work is incorporating an Indigenous lens and strengthening relationships with Indigenous leaders, communities, and organizations.”

Applicants must have: an experienced background working with Indigenous communities, cultures, and practices; program development and facilitation skills; network building and relationship management skills; and strong knowledge of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action. Ability to speak Cree is an asset.
