Grande Prairie residents have the opportunity to recognize outstanding volunteers and organizations in the community as the George Repka Outstanding Achievement Award and Bill Bowes Organization of the Year Award open up nominations for 2019.  

The George Repka Outstanding Achievement Award recognizes up to three residents annually who have made outstanding contributions to Grande Prairie as volunteers. The award is named after former Mayor George Repka who served on City Council for 10 years and made significant volunteer contributions to the City of Grande Prairie organization. 

To be nominated, individuals should be distinguished with notable achievements or contributions to the community, characterized by over twenty years of service in the areas of recreation, culture, or social services. 

The Bill Bowes Volunteer Organization of the Year Award recognizes a volunteer organization or foundation that has provided outstanding contributions to the community through meritorious service, voluntary contributions and exemplary community development having a direct, positive effect on residents. The award is named after Bill Bowes - a highly successful business leader in Grande Prairie who was committed to supporting the community through his involvement in many service clubs and organizations.

Organizations eligible for the Bill Bowes award must be distinguished with notable achievements or contributions to the community including but not limited to fundraising, volunteering, recognition of community needs and more. Nominated organizations must be located within the City of Grande Prairie limits.

To nominate an individual or organization for either award, complete a nomination package at cityofgp.com/GeorgeRepka or cityofgp.com/BillBowes by October 1.
