The City of Grande Prairie is entering the second phase of public consultation for the development of a Transportation Master Plan.

The public is invited to partake in an online survey from June 12 to July 3.

Residents may also attend an in-person public consultation session. The session takes place on June 20 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Teresa Sargent Hall in the Montrose Cultural Centre located at 9839 103 Avenue.

During the second phase of public consultation, residents may expect to engage with and help prioritize transportation network options that were developed after round 1 of consultation in January 2018.

Community input will be used to refine, test, and rank transportation network options developed in the first phase of consultation. These options include ideas such as ideas such as traffic movement and safety (road congestion and intersection safety), sustainable transportation (bike lanes, trails, paths, and transit), truck routes, and rail crossings.

"Once completed, the Transportation Master Plan will help us plan and build the infrastructure that enables the public to move through Grande Prairie for years to come," says Robin Hutchinson, Transportation & Safety Engineering Supervisor. "Public consultation is vital in understanding community needs throughout the development of the Transportation Master Plan."

Background

The Transportation Master Plan is a guiding document that supports the City's future transportation needs. The last Plan was developed in 2009.

The goal of the Transportation Master Plan is to provide safe, attractive and efficient options for moving people and goods around the City. It aims to capture all ways people travel around Grande Prairie, including walking, cycling, driving and more.
