Snow Clearing Updates for December 21 to 24. 2020

There are two main ways the City runs snow plowing and ice control operations:

Priority Road Plowing and Ice Control
  • Occurs continuously throughout the winter in response to changing weather conditions.
  • The goal is to plow arterial (priority 1) and secondary (priority 2) roads to maintain clear access for emergency vehicles and general commuters.
  • Includes ice control operations such as sanding and salting, as well as windrow pick-up.
Residential Snow Clearing
  • Occurs in two-week rotations only when triggered by the City.
  • If a neighbourhood is not complete in week one, crews will return in week two.
  • Operated Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The City hires contracted crews to plow residential roads.

Crystal Heights, Crystal Landing, Summit and Ivy Lake Estates.

Tuesday

Patterson and South Patterson and Southview.

Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South, Signature Falls and Country Club West.

Wednesday

Avondale, College Park and Swanavon.

Cobblestone, Fieldbrook, Highland Park, Riverstone and Smith.

Thursday

Kensington, Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake and Stone Ridge.

Pinnacle Ridge and Westpointe.

Friday

Arbour Hills, Gateway, Northridge, Royal Oaks and Westgate.

Lakeland, Crystal Ridge, Copperwood, and Crystal Lake Estates.

December 24, 2020: 

  • A parking ban remains in effect on priority roads. 
  • Crews continue to plow priority 2 and 3 roads and patrol all priority roads for icy areas to sand and salt as needed. 
  • Crews have finished plowing the City's trail network.

December 23, 2020: 

  • City crews continue to plow priority 2 and 3 routes, as well as pick up windrows from priority 2 routes. 
  • City crews are monitoring all priority roads for icy areas and sanding/salting as needed. 
  • The City's trail network continues to be plowed and monitored for icy areas.
  • A parking ban remains in effect. 

December 22, 2020: 

  • City crews have completed plowing priority 1 routes. They continue to plow priority 2 and 3 routes. 
  • Sanding/salting is ongoing on all priority routes. 
  • A parking ban is in effect. 
    • During a parking ban, parking is not permitted on priority 1 and 2 roads between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.

  • City crews continue to plow and sand the City's trail network. 

December 21, 2020: 

  • City crews are actively plowing all priority roads and picking up windrows from priority 2 roads.
  • Crews are plowing and sanding the City's trail network. 
  • A parking ban is in effect.
    • Parking is not permitted on priority 1 and 2 roads between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.
