Snow Clearing Update November 22 to 26, 2021

There are two main ways the City runs snow plowing and ice control operations:

Priority Road Plowing and Ice Control
  • Occurs continuously throughout the winter in response to changing weather conditions.
  • The goal is to plow arterial (priority 1) and secondary (priority 2) roads to maintain clear access for emergency vehicles and general commuters.
  • Includes ice control operations such as sanding and salting, as well as windrow pick-up.
Residential Snow Clearing
  • Occurs in two-week rotations only when triggered by the City.
  • If a neighbourhood is not complete in week one, crews will return in week two.
  • Operated Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The City hires contracted crews to plow residential roads.

Patterson and South Patterson and Southview.

Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South, Signature Falls and Country Club West.

Avondale, College Park and Swanavon.

Cobblestone, Fieldbrook, Highland Park, Riverstone and Smith.

Thursday

Kensington, Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake and Stone Ridge.

Pinnacle Ridge and Westpointe.

Friday

Arbour Hills, Gateway, Northridge, Royal Oaks and Westgate.

Lakeland, Crystal Ridge, Copperwood, and Crystal Lake Estates.

November 26, 2021:

  • Residential snow clearing continues.

    • Today, crews are in the neighbourhoods of Arbour Hills, Copperwood, Crystal Lake Estates, Crystal Ridge, Gateway, Lakeland, Northridge, and Royal Oaks.

    • On Monday, crews are in the neighbourhood of Crystal Heights, Crystal Landing, Hillside, Ivy Lake Estates, Mountview, Summit, and VLA/Montrose.

  • Crews have completed plowing priority roads and are monitoring for icy areas and sanding as needed.

  • A parking ban remains in effect on all priority roads from Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.

November 25, 2021:

  • Residential snow clearing continues.
    • Today, crews are in the neighbourhoods of Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake, Pinnacle Ridge, Stone Ridge, and Westpointe.
    • Tomorrow, crews are in the neighbourhood of Arbour Hills, Copperwood, Crystal Lake Estates, Crystal Ridge, Gateway, Lakeland, Northridge, and Royal Oaks.
  • Crews returned to plow priority 1 and 2 roads following yesterday's snowfall.
  • Crews are currently monitoring for icy areas and sanding as needed.
  • The plowing and sanding of trails is ongoing.
  • A parking ban remains in effect on all priority roads from Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.

November 24, 2021:

  • Residential snow clearing continues.
    • Today, crews are in the neighbourhoods of Avondale, Cobblestone, College Park, Fieldbrook, Highland Park, Riverstone, Smith, and Swanavon.
    • Tomorrow, crews are in the neighbourhood of Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake, Pinnacle Ridge, Stone Ridge, and Westpointe.
  • Crews have completed plowing all priority roads and are currently monitoring for icy areas and sanding as needed.
  • Windrow pick-up is underway in Pinnacle Ridge and Westpointe.
  • The plowing and sanding of trails is ongoing.
  • A parking ban remains in effect on all priority roads from Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.

November 23, 2021:

  • Residential snow clearing continues.

    • Today, crews are in the neighbourhoods of Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South, Country Club West, Patterson and South Patterson, Southview, and Signature Falls.

      Tomorrow, crews are in the neighbourhood of Avondale, Cobblestone, College Park, Fieldbrook, Highland Park, Riverstone, Smith, and Swanavon.

  • Crews continue to plow priority roads including: 
    • Ice control on all priority roads.
    • Plowing of priority 2 roads in Highland Park, Avondale, and Swanavon.
    • Windrow pick-up in Patterson and Mission Heights.
  • The plowing and sanding of trails is ongoing.
  • A parking ban remains in effect on all priority roads from Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.

November 22, 2021: 

  • Residential snow clearing has begun.
    • Today, crews are in the neighbourhoods of Crystal Heights, Crystal Landing, Hillside, Ivy Lake Estates, Mountview, Summit, and VLA/Montrose.
