Snow Clearing Update - March 7 to 11

There are two main ways the City runs snow plowing and ice control operations:

Priority Road Plowing and Ice Control
  • Occurs continuously throughout the winter in response to changing weather conditions.
  • The goal is to plow arterial (priority 1) and secondary (priority 2) roads to maintain clear access for emergency vehicles and general commuters.
  • Includes ice control operations such as sanding and salting, as well as windrow pick-up.
Residential Snow Clearing
  • Occurs in two-week rotations only when triggered by the City.
  • If a neighbourhood is not complete in week one, crews will return in week two.
  • Operated Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The City hires contracted crews to plow residential roads.

Crystal Heights, Crystal Landing, Summit and Ivy Lake Estates.

Tuesday

Patterson and South Patterson and Southview.

Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South, Signature Falls and Country Club West.

Wednesday

Avondale, College Park and Swanavon.

Cobblestone, Fieldbrook, Highland Park, Riverstone and Smith.

Thursday

Kensington, Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake and Stone Ridge.

Pinnacle Ridge and Westpointe.

Friday

Arbour Hills, Gateway, Northridge, Royal Oaks and Westgate.

Lakeland, Crystal Ridge, Copperwood, and Crystal Lake Estates.

March 11, 2022: 

  • The parking ban has been lifted for all priority roads. 
  • City crews are patrolling priority roads for ice control.
  • Crews are thawing catch basins to prepare for spring drainage.
  • Crews are currently plowing residential roads in the neighbourhoods of Arbour Hills, Copperwood, Crystal Lake Estates, Crystal Ridge, Gateway, Lakeland, Northridge and Royal Oaks.
    • Snow clearing crews will be returning to Tuesday areas that have not been completed. 
  • Piles are being picked up in Copperwood and Crystal Lake Estates. 
  • Window removal is complete. 
  • Snow and ice control is in progress on all trails and paths. 

March 10, 2022: 

  • Crews are patrolling all priority roads and sanding as needed.
  • Residential snow clearing crews are currently plowing roads in the neighbourhoods of Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake, Pinnacle Ridge, Stone Ridge and Westpointe.
    • Snow clearing crews will be returning to Tuesday areas that have not been completed. 
    • Tomorrow, crews are in the neighbourhood of Arbour Hills, Copperwood, Crystal Lake Estates, Crystal Ridge, Gateway, Lakeland, Northridge and Royal Oaks.
  • Snow and ice control is in progress on all trails and paths. 
  • A parking ban remains in place on all priority roads.

March 9, 2022: 

  • Residential snow clearing crews are in the neighbourhoods of Avondale, Cobblestone, College Park, Fieldbrook, Highland Park, Riverstone, Smith and Swanavon.
    • Tomorrow, crews are in the neighbourhood of Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake, Pinnacle Ridge, Stone Ridge and Westpointe.
  • Crews are patrolling priority roads for ice control.
  • City crews are picking up windrows on priority two roads in Royal Oaks.
  • Snow and ice control is in progress on all trails and paths. 
  • A parking ban remains in place on all priority roads.

March 8, 2022: 

  • Crews are currently plowing residential roads in the neighbourhoods of Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South, Country Club West, Patterson and South Patterson, Southview and Signature Falls.
    • Tomorrow, crews are in the neighbourhood of Avondale, Cobblestone, College Park, Fieldbrook, Highland Park, Riverstone, Smith and Swanavon.
  • City crews are monitoring the priority road network and sanding as needed.
  • City crews are picking up windrows on priority two roads in Lakeland, Copperwood, Crystal Lake and Crystal Ridge. 
  • Trails continue to be plowed and sanded.

  • A parking ban remains in effect on all priority roads from Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.

March 7, 2022: 

  • Residential snow clearing crews are in the neighbourhoods of Crystal Heights, Crystal Landing, Hillside, Ivy Lake Estates, Mountview, Summit and VLA/Montrose.
    • Tomorrow, crews are in the neighbourhood of Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South, Country Club West, Patterson and South Patterson, Southview and Signature Falls.
  • Crews are actively plowing all priority roads and sanding as needed.
  • Windrow pickups are taking place on priority two routes in Mission Heights, Crystal Heights and Crystal Lake.
  • Industrial areas are being plowed south of 100 Avenue between 108 Street and 116 Street. 
  • Plowing of the trail system is ongoing.
  • A parking ban on permanent snow routes remains in effect.
