Snow Clearing Update - January 10 to 16

There are two main ways the City runs snow plowing and ice control operations:

Priority Road Plowing and Ice Control
  • Occurs continuously throughout the winter in response to changing weather conditions.
  • The goal is to plow arterial (priority 1) and secondary (priority 2) roads to maintain clear access for emergency vehicles and general commuters.
  • Includes ice control operations such as sanding and salting, as well as windrow pick-up.
Residential Snow Clearing
  • Occurs in two-week rotations only when triggered by the City.
  • If a neighbourhood is not complete in week one, crews will return in week two.
  • Operated Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The City hires contracted crews to plow residential roads.

Monday

Hillside, Mountview and VLA/Montrose.

Crystal Heights, Crystal Landing, Summit and Ivy Lake Estates.

Tuesday

Patterson and South Patterson and Southview.

Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South, Signature Falls and Country Club West.

Wednesday

Avondale, College Park and Swanavon.

Cobblestone, Fieldbrook, Highland Park, Riverstone and Smith.

Thursday

Kensington, Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake and Stone Ridge.

Pinnacle Ridge and Westpointe.

Friday

Arbour Hills, Gateway, Northridge, Royal Oaks and Westgate.

Lakeland, Crystal Ridge, Copperwood, and Crystal Lake Estates.

On January 14 to 16, 2023, crews plan to: 

  • Continue actively plowing and sanding all priority roads.
  • Plow roads in the Monday week B areas of Crystal Heights, Crystal Landing and Ivy Lake Estates.
  • Continue picking up snow piles in residential areas.
  • Continue plowing and sanding the trail network as needed. 

On January 12, 2023, crews plan to:

  • Continue actively plowing and sanding all priority roads as needed.
  • Plow roads in the Thursday week B areas of Pinnacle Ridge and Westpointe.
  • Begin picking up snow piles in residential areas.
  • Plow priority 3 roads in industrial and commercial areas.
  • Continue plowing and sanding the trail network as needed. 

On January 11, 2023, crews plan to:

  • Continue actively plowing and sanding all priority roads as needed.
  • Plow roads in the Wednesday week B areas of Cobblestone, Fieldbrook, Highland Park, Riverstone and Smith.
  • Plow priority 3 roads in industrial and commercial areas.
  • Continue plowing and sanding the trail network as needed. 

On January 10, 2023, crews plan to:

  • Continue actively plowing and sanding all priority roads as needed.
  • Plow roads in the Tuesday week B areas of Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South and Country Club West.
  • Plow priority 2 roads and pick up windrows in Tuesday areas.
  • Transition to plowing priority 2 roads and picking up windrows in Wednesday areas after completing Tuesday areas. 
  • Continue plowing and sanding the trail network as needed. 

*All snow and ice operations are weather dependent

A parking ban remains in effect on all priority roads from Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.
