Snow Clearing Update - January 10 to 14, 2022

There are two main ways the City runs snow plowing and ice control operations:

Priority Road Plowing and Ice Control
  • Occurs continuously throughout the winter in response to changing weather conditions.
  • The goal is to plow arterial (priority 1) and secondary (priority 2) roads to maintain clear access for emergency vehicles and general commuters.
  • Includes ice control operations such as sanding and salting, as well as windrow pick-up.
Residential Snow Clearing
  • Occurs in two-week rotations only when triggered by the City.
  • If a neighbourhood is not complete in week one, crews will return in week two.
  • Operated Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The City hires contracted crews to plow residential roads.

Patterson and South Patterson and Southview.

Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South, Signature Falls and Country Club West.

Wednesday

Avondale, College Park and Swanavon.

Cobblestone, Fieldbrook, Highland Park, Riverstone and Smith.

Thursday

Kensington, Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake and Stone Ridge.

Pinnacle Ridge and Westpointe.

Friday

Arbour Hills, Gateway, Northridge, Royal Oaks and Westgate.

Lakeland, Crystal Ridge, Copperwood, and Crystal Lake Estates.

January 14, 2022 

  • Crews are continuing the current round of residential snow removal.
  • Crews are currently plowing residential roads in the neighbourhoods of Arbour Hills, Copperwood, Crystal Lake Estates, Crystal Ridge, Gateway, Lakeland, Northridge, and Royal Oaks.
  • City crews are actively plowing and sanding all priority roads.
  • Snow and ice control is in progress on all trails.
  • Windrows are being picked up in Smith, Cobblestone, and Mission Heights.
  • A parking ban remains in effect on all priority roads from Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.

January 13, 2022 

  • Residential snow clearing crews are currently plowing roads in the neighbourhoods of Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake, Pinnacle Ridge, Stone Ridge, and Westpointe.
    • Tomorrow, they will be in the neighbourhoods of  Arbour Hills, Copperwood, Crystal Lake Estates, Crystal Ridge, Gateway, Lakeland, Northridge, and Royal Oaks
  • City crews continue to plow and sand all priority roads.
  • Crews are picking up windrows in Pinnacle Ridge.
  • Crews are plowing and sanding the trail network.
  • A parking ban remains in effect.

January 12, 2022

  • Crews are currently plowing residential roads in the neighbourhoods of Avondale, Cobblestone, College Park, Fieldbrook, Highland Park, Riverstone, Smith, and Swanavon. 
    • Tomorrow, they will be in the neighbourhoods of Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake, Pinnacle Ridge, Stone Ridge, and Westpointe.
  • Windrows are being picked up in Highland Park. 
  • Sander and plow trucks are on all priority roads for ice control
  • Snow and ice control is in progress on all trails
  • A parking ban remains in effect on all priority roads from Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.

January 11, 2022

  • Residential snow clearing crews are currently plowing roads in the neighbourhoods of Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South, Country Club West, Patterson and South Patterson, Southview, and Signature Falls.
  • Crews are actively sanding as needed on all priority roadways and a parking ban remains in effect.
  • Plowing of the trail system is ongoing.
  • Crews are actively picking up windrows from priority 2 roads. 

January 10, 2022

  • Crews are currently plowing residential roads in the neighbourhoods of Crystal Heights, Crystal Landing, Hillside, Ivy Lake Estates, Mountview, Summit, and VLA/Montrose.
  • Plowing of priority roads 1 and 2 is in progress. 

  • Sanding and ice control on all priority roads is ongoing as needed.

  • Plowing of trails is ongoing. 

  • Reminder that a parking ban on permanent snow routes is in effect.
