Snow Clearing Update - February 14 to 20

There are two main ways the City runs snow plowing and ice control operations:

Priority Road Plowing and Ice Control
  • Occurs continuously throughout the winter in response to changing weather conditions.
  • The goal is to plow arterial (priority 1) and secondary (priority 2) roads to maintain clear access for emergency vehicles and general commuters.
  • Includes ice control operations such as sanding and salting, as well as windrow pick-up.
Residential Snow Clearing
  • Occurs in two-week rotations only when triggered by the City.
  • If a neighbourhood is not complete in week one, crews will return in week two.
  • Operated Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The City hires contracted crews to plow residential roads.

Monday

Hillside, Mountview and VLA/Montrose.

Crystal Heights, Crystal Landing, Summit and Ivy Lake Estates.

Tuesday

Patterson and South Patterson and Southview.

Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South, Signature Falls and Country Club West.

Wednesday

Avondale, College Park and Swanavon.

Cobblestone, Fieldbrook, Highland Park, Riverstone and Smith.

Thursday

Kensington, Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake and Stone Ridge.

Pinnacle Ridge and Westpointe.

Friday

Arbour Hills, Gateway, Northridge, Royal Oaks and Westgate.

Lakeland, Crystal Ridge, Copperwood, and Crystal Lake Estates.

On February 17, 2023, crews plan to:

  • Continue to monitor, plow and sand all priority routes as needed.
  • Continue filling potholes on priority 1 routes. 
  • Pick up snow piles in Friday areas.
  • Continue to plow and sand trails as needed.

On February 16, 2023, crews plan to:

  • Continue to monitor, plow and sand all priority routes as needed.
  • Begin filling potholes on priority 1 routes. 
  • Pick up snow piles in Thursday areas.
  • Continue to plow and sand trails as needed.

The two-week round of residential snow clearing is complete.

On February 15, 2023, crews plan to:

  • Continue actively plowing and sanding all priority routes.
  • Plow roads in the Wednesday week B areas of Cobblestone, Fieldbrook, Highland Park, Riverstone and Smith.
  • Pick up snow piles in Wednesday areas.
  • Continue plowing and sanding trails and paths. 

On February 14, 2023, crews plan to:

  • Continue to monitor priority 1 and 2 routes, plowing and sanding as needed.
  • Continue plowing and sanding priority 3 routes.
  • Plow roads in the Tuesday week B areas of Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South and Country Club West.
  • Pick up snow piles in Tuesday areas.
  • Continue plowing and sanding trails and paths.
