Road Impacts
Several roads in downtown Grande Prairie will be closed or experiencing delays on Friday, July 1 starting at 12:30 p.m. to accommodate the Canada Day parade.
North and south traffic delays are expected as 108 Avenue will be closed between 94 Street and 116 Avenue from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Delays are expected on 94 Street (between 105 Avenue and 108 Avenue) and Wille de Wit Drive (between 108 Avenue and 112 Avenue) while City staff marshal the parade floats from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Motorists travelling north and south through the city are encouraged to use 92 Street or 108 Street to avoid delays.
Transit Impacts
Transit routes 1, 2, 3, 11 and 12 are rerouting from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, July 1 to accommodate the Canada Day parade.
The following bus stops will be closed from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.:
- Route 1: Stops 108, 110, 112, 116 and 120
- Route 2: Stops 206, 210, 214, 216, 218, 222, 226, 230, 254 and 266
- Route 3: Stops 344, 346, 350, 352 and 354
- Route 11: Stops 431, 433 and 435
- Route 12: Stops 344, 350, 352, 354 and 752
Transit will operate for FREE on Canada Day during its regular statutory holiday hours from 8:46 a.m. to 6:15 p.m.
The Canada Day parade begins at 1 p.m. and will travel from Hillside school to the Leisure Centre parking lot via 108 Avenue. Residents are invited to watch and enjoy the parade from 108 Avenue. View the Canada Day parade map here or see more Canada Day details at cityofgp.com/canadaday
