The City of Grande Prairie has contracted crews to remove ice from residential areas, starting next week.
The operation is implemented in response to the abnormal freeze/thaw cycles currently being experienced in Grande Prairie, which led to extremely icy road conditions in residential neighbourhoods.
Contracted crews are following the schedule assigned for residential snow removal, however the schedule may be adjusted depending on weather and speed of operations.
City Crews are currently removing ice from select roads in residential areas of highest need and will continue to do so over the weekend. They are also opening catch basins, thawing culverts, and ensuring melting snow is able to enter the stormwater system.
