Update: October 21, 11:21 a.m.
The contractor was able to begin the vegetation removal a day earlier than anticipated. Crews will be on-site this afternoon, October 21, to start the vegetation removal.
On Saturday, October 22, trees and vegetation growing within and adjacent to the Bear Creek Dam structure are being removed as part of safety and accessibility upgrades to the dam infrastructure.
The root systems in the identified areas grow in a location which can result in internal erosion and altered water flows resulting in instability. All efforts have been made to limit the number of trees and vegetation required to be removed.
The red boundary within the images is the approximate vegetation removal area.
Once the project is complete, the area will be seeded with a natural grass or wildflower mix, depending on the location.
