Eligible Candidates - Qualifications
To become a candidate, you must be:
- at least 18 years of age
- a Canadian citizen
- a resident of the City of Grande Prairie since March 22, 2025
- not otherwise ineligible or disqualified

Nominations
Posting Election Signs
In accordance with the Use of Public Lands Bylaw, election signs cannot be displayed or placed earlier than six (6) weeks prior to the day for the municipal election.
Election signs may only be displayed in designated locations.

The role of elected officials is to lead. Elected officials determine the long-term goals and priorities of their municipality. Doing this effectively takes skill and an understanding of how to separate the day-to-day from the big picture. Below are a few examples of priorities and planning determined by elected officials (Council) throughout an Election term.
