Road rehabilitation begins on Crystal Lake Drive

The City of Grande Prairie is continuing its 2026 capital construction season with road rehabilitation work planned to begin on Monday, July 6 on Crystal Lake Drive between 116 Avenue and 120 Avenue.

The work helps extend the life of the roadway and improve driving comfort, with anticipated project completion in early August, weather permitting.

The project includes:

Asphalt milling and overlay paving in areas requiring surface improvements.

Minor storm sewer repairs.

Concrete spot replacements.

Refreshed line markings and crosswalks.

Final landscaping.

During construction, traffic is maintained but limited to alternating single lanes, with a reduced speed limit of 30 km/h in active work zones. Short-term closures may occur, with access for local traffic maintained.

Sidewalks and pathways remain open. Drivers are asked to follow posted signage and directions from flag persons.

Transit Route 6 may experience delays in the area with potential impacts to stop 630.

Construction schedules and current traffic impacts are available through the Traffic Planner Map at cityofgp.com/capitalconstruction.

Questions about the project can be directed to AccessGP by dialing 311 or emailing info@cityofgp.com.

The City thanks residents and commuters for their patience and cooperation while this work is completed.
