The City of Grande Prairie is continuing its 2026 capital construction season with mill and overlay work planned on sections of 108 Street. Mill and overlay work helps extend the life of the road by removing the top layer of asphalt and replacing it with a new driving surface.
Work is planned at the following locations:
- 108 Street between Royal Oaks Drive and 132 Avenue
- 108 Street between 92 Avenue and 100 Avenue
Work in the Royal Oaks area of 108 Street is scheduled to begin Thursday, June 25. Work on 108 Street between 92 Avenue and 100 Avenue is anticipated to begin in the coming days. Both projects are expected to be complete by mid- to late July, weather permitting.
The work includes asphalt milling, concrete replacement, minor storm work, overlay paving and line markings. To help reduce daytime traffic impacts for commuters, some work on 108 Street between 92 Avenue and 100 Avenue may take place overnight, including paving.
Traffic may be reduced to single-lane alternating flow in active construction zones. Minor detours, short-term closures and other traffic accommodations may also be required while work is underway.
Pedestrian access will remain open wherever possible.
Drivers are reminded to follow posted signage, allow extra travel time and stay alert around crews and equipment.
