Snow Clearing Updates for November 29 to December 3, 2021

There are two main ways the City runs snow plowing and ice control operations:

Priority Road Plowing and Ice Control
  • Occurs continuously throughout the winter in response to changing weather conditions.
  • The goal is to plow arterial (priority 1) and secondary (priority 2) roads to maintain clear access for emergency vehicles and general commuters.
  • Includes ice control operations such as sanding and salting, as well as windrow pick-up.
Residential Snow Clearing
  • Occurs in two-week rotations only when triggered by the City.
  • If a neighbourhood is not complete in week one, crews will return in week two.
  • Operated Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The City hires contracted crews to plow residential roads.

Crystal Heights, Crystal Landing, Summit and Ivy Lake Estates.

Tuesday

Patterson and South Patterson and Southview.

Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South, Signature Falls and Country Club West.

Wednesday

Avondale, College Park and Swanavon/Highland Park (North).

Cobblestone, Fieldbrook, Highland Park (South), Riverstone and Smith.

Thursday

Kensington, Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake and Stone Ridge.

Pinnacle Ridge and Westpointe.

Friday

Arbour Hills, Gateway, Northridge, Royal Oaks and Westgate.

Lakeland, Easthaven, Crystal Ridge, Copperwood, and Crystal Lake Estates.

December 3, 2021: 

  • Residential snow clearing continues in the neighbourhoods of Arbour Hills, Copperwood, Crystal Lake Estates, Crystal Ridge, Gateway, Lakeland, Northridge, and Royal Oaks.
  • City crews are monitoring priority and residential roads for icy areas and sanding as needed.
  • Ice control on the trail system is ongoing.

December 2, 2021: 

  • Parking bans on permanent snow routes are lifted as of today. Thank you to residents for your cooperation in creating a safe environment to efficiently clear snow.
  • Residential snow clearing continues.
    • Today, crews are in the neighbourhoods of Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake, Pinnacle Ridge, Stone Ridge, and Westpointe.
    • Tomorrow, crews are in the neighbourhood of Arbour Hills, Copperwood, Crystal Lake Estates, Crystal Ridge, Gateway, Lakeland, Northridge, and Royal Oaks.
  • City crews have completed plowing all priority roads and are monitoring these roads for icy areas and sanding as needed.
  • Ice control on the trail system is ongoing.

December 1, 2021: 

  • Residential snow clearing continues.
    • Today, crews are in the neighbourhoods of Avondale, Cobblestone, College Park, Fieldbrook, Highland Park, Riverstone, Smith, and Swanavon.
    • Tomorrow, crews are in the neighbourhood of Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake, Pinnacle Ridge, Stone Ridge, and Westpointe.
  • City crews continue to plow priority 2 roads and sand all priority roads.
  • Ice control on the City's trails and pathways continues.
  • A parking ban remains in effect on all priority roads from Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.

November 30, 2021: 

  • Residential snow clearing continues.

    • Today, crews are in the neighbourhoods of Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South, Country Club West, Patterson and South Patterson, Southview, and Signature Falls.

    • Tomorrow, crews are in the neighbourhood of Avondale, Cobblestone, College Park, Fieldbrook, Highland Park, Riverstone, Smith, and Swanavon.

  • Crews have completed plowing priority 1 roads and are actively plowing priority 2 and 3 roads. Currently, they are focused on clearing gutters to maintain drainage and picking up windrows in Countryside South and North.
  • The plowing and sanding of trails is ongoing.
  • A parking ban remains in effect on all priority roads from Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.

November 29, 2021: 

  • Residential snow clearing continues.
    • Today, crews are in the neighbourhoods of Crystal Heights, Crystal Landing, Hillside, Ivy Lake Estates, Mountview, Summit, and VLA/Montrose.
    • Tomorrow, crews are in the neighbourhood of Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South, Country Club West, Patterson and South Patterson, Southview, and Signature Falls.
  • Crews continue to plow and sand priority roads.
  • The sanding of trails is ongoing.
  • A parking ban remains in effect on all priority roads from Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.
