UPDATED: Eastlink Centre adding swim platforms to 25-metre program pool

UPDATE: June 14 at 1:35 p.m.

The swim platform installation in the 25-metre program pool is extended to continue until the end of day on Friday, June 14. The 25 metre program pool is expected to re-open at 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 15 for Fit Swim.

Visitors are thanked for their patience while the City works with the contractor to install this new asset.

UPDATE 4:20 p.m. on Thursday, June 13

Installation of the swim platforms starts today, June 13, 2024. The contractor will work overnight to complete the installation by 12 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, June 14.

Please note the 25-metre program pool is unavailable for public use until work is complete. The City will relocate the Seniors Shallow aquatics class taking place at 10:10 a.m. to another aquatics amenity.

Visitors are reminded to not jump, cannon ball or dive into the 25-metre pool to avoid accidental injury.

The City is excited to share this new asset with the community.

The 25-metre program pool at the Eastlink Centre will get new moveable swim platforms that can be moved to change the depth of the pool for different activities and events.

This new addition offers many benefits to users by adding safe support and stability for swimmers during specific exercises, drills and rehabilitation routines. The swim platforms also support users who may be less confident in the water depth.

The swim platforms will create a ledge around the inner perimeter of the 25-metre program pool, which will improve swimming lesson delivery and experience. Swimmers are reminded not to jump or dive into the 25-metre program pool to avoid injury.

The City is excited to offer more flexibility and options to our pool operations with the moveable swim platforms.
