Snow Clearing Updates for November 16 to 20, 2020

There are two main ways the City runs snow plowing and ice control operations:

Priority Road Plowing and Ice Control
  • Occurs continuously throughout the winter in response to changing weather conditions.
  • The goal is to plow arterial (priority 1) and secondary (priority 2) roads to maintain clear access for emergency vehicles and general commuters.
  • Includes ice control operations such as sanding and salting, as well as windrow pick-up.
Residential Snow Clearing
  • Occurs in two-week rotations only when triggered by the City.
  • If a neighbourhood is not complete in week one, crews will return in week two.
  • Operated Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The City hires contracted crews to plow residential roads.

Hillside, Mountview and VLA/Montrose.

Crystal Heights, Crystal Landing, Summit and Ivy Lake Estates.

Tuesday

Patterson and South Patterson and Southview.

Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South, Signature Falls and Country Club West.

Wednesday

Avondale, College Park and Swanavon/Highland Park (North).

Cobblestone, Fieldbrook, Highland Park (South), Riverstone and Smith.

Thursday

Kensington, Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake and Stone Ridge.

Pinnacle Ridge and Westpointe.

Friday

Arbour Hills, Gateway, Northridge, Royal Oaks and Westgate.

Lakeland, Easthaven, Crystal Ridge, Copperwood, and Crystal Lake Estates.

Friday, November 20, 2020:

  • City crews continue to plow priority 2 and 3 routes. 
  • Sanding/salting is ongoing on all priority routes.
  • The City's trail network continues to be plowed and sanded. 

Thursday, November 19, 2020: 

  • City crews have completed plowing priority 1 routes and continue to plow priority 2 and 3 routes. 
  • Ice control (sanding/salting) is underway on all priority routes.
  • The City's trail network continues to be plowed and sanded. 

Wednesday, November 18, 2020: 

  • City crews continue to plow and sand priority 1, 2, and 3 routes, as well as pick up windrows from priority 2 routes. 
  • Crews continue to plow and sand the City's trail network.

Tuesday, November 17, 2020: 

  • Priority 1, 2, and 3 routes are actively being plowed and patrolled by ice control crews for sanding as needed.
  • Windrows are being picked up from priority 2 routes. 
  • The trail network is being plowed and sanded.

Monday, November 16, 2020:

  • City crews are plowing priority 1 & 2 routes and picking up windrows from Priority 2 routes. 
  • City crews are actively sanding all priority routes.
  • The City's trails are being plowed and sanded.
