Snow clearing and road maintenance operations March 3-7

There are two main ways the City runs snow plowing and ice control operations:

Priority Road Plowing and Ice Control
  • Occurs continuously throughout the winter in response to changing weather conditions.
  • The goal is to plow arterial (priority 1) and secondary (priority 2) roads to maintain clear access for emergency vehicles and general commuters.
  • Includes ice control operations such as sanding and salting, as well as windrow pick-up.
Residential Snow Clearing
  • Occurs in two-week rotations only when triggered by the City.
  • If a neighbourhood is not complete in week one, crews will return in week two.
  • Operated Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The City hires contracted crews to plow residential roads.

Hillside, Mountview and VLA/Montrose.

Crystal Heights, Crystal Landing, Summit and Ivy Lake Estates.

Tuesday

Patterson and South Patterson and Southview.

Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South, Signature Falls and Country Club West.

Wednesday

Avondale, College Park and Swanavon.

Cobblestone, Fieldbrook, Highland Park, Riverstone and Smith.

Thursday

Kensington, Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake and Stone Ridge.

Pinnacle Ridge and Westpointe.

Friday

Arbour Hills, Gateway, Northridge, Royal Oaks and Westgate.

Lakeland, Easthaven, Crystal Ridge, Copperwood, and Crystal Lake Estates.

March 7

Residential Snow Clearing

Residential snow clearing continues today in Friday ‘Week B’ neighbourhoods: Lakeland, Crystal Ridge, Copperwood, Easthaven and Crystal Lake.

After the weekend, crews will be in Monday Week B areas: Crystal Heights, Crystal Landing, Summit and Ivy Lake Estates.

Daily Snow Clearing and Road Maintenance Operations

City crews are actively working on snow management, runoff control and road maintenance throughout the city.

Today’s activities include:

  • Clearing lanes in Cobblestone, Lakeland, Arbor hills and Crystal Landing.
  • Removing snow piles in Lakeland. 
  • Maintaining catch basins with vac and water trucks. 

March 6

Residential Snow Clearing

Residential snow clearing continues today in Thursday ‘Week B’ neighbourhoods: Pinnacle Ridge and Westpointe. 

Crews will be in Friday Week B areas tomorrow: Lakeland, Crystal Ridge, Copperwood and Crystal Lake Estates.

Daily Snow Clearing and Road Maintenance Operations

City crews are actively working on snow management, runoff control and road maintenance throughout the community. Today’s activities include:

  • Completing lane clearing in Mission Heights before moving to Cobblestone.
  • Removing snow piles in Ivy Lake and Landing Drive.
  • Grading gravel lanes.
  • Using an eductor truck to clear culverts.
  • Cleaning catch basins with a water truck.

March 5

Residential Snow Clearing

Residential snow clearing moves into Wednesday Week B neighbourhoods today, starting with: Cobblestone, Fieldbrook, Highland Park, Riverstone and Smith.

Crews will be in Thursday Week B areas tomorrow: Pinnacle Ridge and Westpointe.

Daily Snow Clearing and Road Maintenance Operations

City crews are conducting various snow, run-off and road maintenance activities across the community, including:

  • Water trucks responding to service requests.
  • Backhoe clearing ditches to improve water flow.
  • Snow pile removal taking place in several neighbourhoods.
  • Pothole repairs using cold mix due to freezing temperatures.
  • Grading paved lanes in Mission Heights. 

March 4

Residential Snow Clearing

Residential snow clearing continues today in Tuesday Week A areas: Patterson Place, South Patterson and Southview.

Crews are set to begin Week B neighbourhoods tomorrow, starting with Wednesday Week B areas: Cobblestone, Fieldbrook, Highland Park, Riverstone and Smith.

Daily Snow Clearing and Road Maintenance Operations

City crews are conducting various snow, run-off and road maintenance activities across the community, including:

  • Water and eductor trucks maintaining catch basins and culverts.
  • Backhoe clearing ditches to improve water flow.
  • Snow pile removal in Mission Heights.
  • Pothole repairs using cold mix due to freezing temperatures.
  • Paved alley cleaning in Westpointe, with crews moving into Mission Heights next.
  • Grading gravel roads and alleys.

March 3

Residential snow clearing is underway today in Hillside, Mountview and VLA/Montrose.

Tomorrow, contracted crews will move into Tuesday ‘Week A’ areas: Patterson and South Patterson and Southview.

Residential crews are finishing Week A on Monday and Tuesday this week, then starting Week B neighbourhoods on Wednesday. 

Daily Snow Clearing and Road Maintenance Operations

City crews are cleaning paved lanes in Pinnacle before moving into Westpointe.
Pothole crews are out today, focusing on 68 Avenue.
City water trucks and a contracted vac truck are maintaining run off, ensuring effective drainage.

Street parking during snow clearing

No-parking signs will be posted in areas scheduled for clearing. To help crews complete their work efficiently, please move vehicles off the street before clearing begins. Vehicles left on the street may be ticketed or towed.
