The City of Grande Prairie is pleased to welcome nearly 400 athletes and spectators to the Eastlink Centre for the highly anticipated Piranhas Northern Lights Invitational swim meet from Friday, May 2 to Sunday, May 4.
Visitors are reminded of the City’s new AccessNow tool, an online dashboard showing the status of all amenities in the Eastlink Centre and Design Works Centre within a 20-minute accuracy window as either available, partially available or unavailable. While certain impacts are listed below, residents are encouraged to check AccessNow for any amenity impacts before their visit.
During the swim meet, limited public swim is offered in scheduled time slot waves allowing up to 100 guests at a time in the Aquaterasaurus Land area of the pool only.
- The aquatics facility will be closed Friday, May 2 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. to set-up for the competition.
Limited public swim includes the following amenity impacts to accommodate the competition:
- Friday, May 2 swim time slot waves:
- 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
- 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Friday, May 2 amenity impacts:
- Diving boards are unavailable all day.
- 25-metre program pool, 50-metre competition pool, sauna and steam room unavailable starting at 2 p.m.
- Saturday, May 3 swim time slot waves:
- 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
- 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
- Saturday, May 3 amenity impacts:
- No public access before 12 p.m.
- Sauna, steam room, 25-metre program pool, 50-metre competition pool, FlowRider and lane swim unavailable all day.
- Sunday, May 4 swim waves:
- 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
- 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- Regular public swim resumes at 4 p.m.
- Sunday, May 4 amenity impacts:
- No public access before 12 p.m.
- Sauna, steam room, 25-metre program pool, 50-metre competition pool, FlowRider and lane swim unavailable until 4 p.m.
