Daily Snow Clearing Update for January 23 to 29

There are two main ways the City runs snow plowing and ice control operations:

Priority Road Plowing and Ice Control
  • Occurs continuously throughout the winter in response to changing weather conditions.
  • The goal is to plow arterial (priority 1) and secondary (priority 2) roads to maintain clear access for emergency vehicles and general commuters.
  • Includes ice control operations such as sanding and salting, as well as windrow pick-up.
Residential Snow Clearing
  • Occurs in two-week rotations only when triggered by the City.
  • If a neighbourhood is not complete in week one, crews will return in week two.
  • Operated Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The City hires contracted crews to plow residential roads.

Monday

Hillside, Mountview and VLA/Montrose.

Crystal Heights, Crystal Landing, Summit and Ivy Lake Estates.

Tuesday

Patterson and South Patterson and Southview.

Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South, Signature Falls and Country Club West.

Wednesday

Avondale, College Park and Swanavon/Highland Park (North).

Cobblestone, Fieldbrook, Highland Park (South), Riverstone and Smith.

Thursday

Kensington, Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake and Stone Ridge.

Pinnacle Ridge and Westpointe.

Friday

Arbour Hills, Gateway, Northridge, Royal Oaks and Westgate.

Lakeland, Easthaven, Crystal Ridge, Copperwood, and Crystal Lake Estates.

On January 29, crews plan to:

  • Continue actively sanding and salting all priority roads as needed.
  • Residential service in Monday Week B areas of Crystal Heights, Ivy Lake Estates, Summit and Crystal Landing.
  • Removing windrows on priority 2 roads in Monday areas.
  • Continue plowing bus stops and city-owned sidewalks. 

On January 26, crews plan to:

  • Continue actively sanding and salting all priority roads as needed.
  • Residential service in Friday Week A areas of Gateway, Arbour Hills, Royal Oaks, Northridge and Northgate.
  • Blading priority 2 roads in Friday areas.
  • Removing windrows on priority 2 roads in Friday areas.
  • Continue plowing bus stops and city-owned sidewalks. 

On January 25, crews plan to:

  • Continue actively sanding and salting all priority roads as needed.
  • Residential service in Thursday Week A areas of Mission Heights, Stoneridge, O'Brien Lake and Kensington.
  • Blading priority 2 roads in Thursday areas.
  • Removing windrows on priority 2 roads in Thursday areas.
  • Continue plowing bus stops and city-owned sidewalks. 

On January 24, crews plan to:

  • Continue actively sanding and salting all priority roads as needed.
  • Residential service in Wednesday Week A areas of Avondale, College Park and Swanavon.
  • Blading priority 2 roads in Wednesday areas.
  • Removing windrows on priority 2 roads in Wednesday areas.
  • Continue plowing bus stops and city-owned sidewalks. 

On January 23, crews plan to:

  • Continue actively sanding and salting all priority roads as needed.
  • Residential service in the Tuesday Week A areas of Patterson, South Patterson and Southview.
  • Plow priority 2 roads and pick up windrows on priority 1 routes.

A parking ban is in effect on all priority roads from Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.
