Delegations

Brady McCorkle requested permission to place “Take a Stick, Leave a Stick” stations at the entrances of City dog parks. Council directed Administration to work with the delegate to identify potential pilot location(s) for the initiative. 

Cassandra Alexopoulos, on behalf of the Wapiti Community Support Association, outlined the impacts of a significant provincial funding reduction on local homelessness supports and shelter capacity. Council directed Mayor Clayton to write a letter to the appropriate Ministers to request further information regarding the funding reductions, including timelines and request a 60-day extension on this funding cut.

City of Grande Prairie's Strategic Plan 2026-2029 

Council adopted the City of Grande Prairie’s Strategic Plan 2026–2029, establishing a clear and practical framework to guide Council’s work over the next four years. The plan reflects Council’s focus on supporting economic opportunity, strengthening community well-being and ensuring long-term sustainability as the city continues to grow.

Avondale Road Access & Servicing Study Budget Reallocation

Council approved transferring $106,000 from the Avondale Road Access & Servicing Study Project to the Land Acquisition – Recreation Facility Project to support upcoming infrastructure needs related to the 103 Street extension, without increasing the overall capital budget.

North Fire Hall - Building Envelope Remediation Funding Request 

Council approved an additional $85,557 in capital funding for the Salmond Fire Hall Building Envelope Remediation Project, funded from the Facility Renewal Reserve, to allow the construction contract to proceed.

Utility Bylaw Amendment C-1365G 

Council approved Bylaw Amendment C-1365G, amending the Utility Bylaw to address an administrative update.

Borrowing Bylaw C-1491- Public Safety Communications Centre 

Council approved Bylaw C-1491, the Public Safety Communications Centre Borrowing Bylaw, to enable borrowing for the project.

Borrowing Bylaw C-1492 - Mission Heights Stormwater Infrastructure 

Council approved Bylaw C-1492, the Mission Heights Stormwater Infrastructure Borrowing Bylaw, to enable borrowing for the project.

Public Hearing: Land Use Bylaw Amendment C-1260-193

Council defeated Bylaw Amendment C-1260-193 at second reading, which proposed amending the Land Use Bylaw to rezone a site from Residential Transition to Direct Control (DC-43).

Public Hearing: Land Use Bylaw Amendment C-1260-210

Council approved Bylaw Amendment C-1260-210, amending the Land Use Bylaw to rezone the Grande Prairie Christian School site and adjacent office building from General Industrial to Public Service. Council also directed Administration to bring back a report by the end of Q2 2026 outlining planned crossing updates for the site.

Public Hearing: Land Use Bylaw Amendment C-1260-209

Council approved Bylaw Amendment C-1260-209, updating the Land Use Bylaw to introduce a definition for Data Processing Centres and establish where they may be located within the City’s industrial districts.

Public Hearing: Land Use Bylaw Amendment C-1260-208

Council approved Bylaw Amendment C-1260-208, updating the Land Use Bylaw through housekeeping amendments to improve clarity, internal consistency and regulatory accuracy.
