Update, September 30, 2020: The road closure on this project has been extended due to unforeseen underground utility conflicts. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank residents for their patience. The original overall project completion date of mid-October is correct.
Wapiti Gravel Suppliers is anticipated to begin road rehabilitation work on 108 Street on Wednesday, September 9, weather permitting.
The work planned for the area is a mill and overlay of all four lanes on 108 Street between 92 Avenue and 84 Avenue. New storm culverts are also being installed near the intersections 108 Street and 89 Avenue, and 108 Street and 84 Avenue.
Construction begins with asphalt milling of all four lanes. North and southbound traffic will be maintained while crews perform the road work.
Installation of the new culverts is anticipated to begin on Saturday, September 12 and take approximately 10 days to complete. The road will be closed to northbound traffic as southbound traffic will be diverted to the northbound lanes. Northbound traffic will be able to turn either west or east at 84 Avenue. Detour signs will be posted to help direct traffic.
Commuters are advised to prepare for major delays, and to avoid the area and use alternate routes whenever possible. Drivers are reminded to watch for workers in all construction zones and to pay attention to all posted signage. The City appreciates everyone’s patience and understanding during construction.
Construction on 108 Street is anticipated to be complete by mid-October.
