The Reverend Forbes Homestead and Pioneer Hospital is officially open for the season.

The hours of operation are Wednesday to Saturday, 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The Reverend Forbes Homestead is operated by the Grande Prairie Museum and is located behind the QEII Hospital (10424 96 Street).

Admission and guided tours are free for all ages.

The seasonal facility is open until September 5.

The community is reminded that the Grande Prairie Museum is open Tuesday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Saturday/Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The Heritage Discovery Centre is open Tuesday to Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Health and safety protocols for COVID-19 including hand sanitizers increased sanitizing of high contact areas, physical distancing and limited capacity will be in place.

About the Reverend Forbes Homestead and Pioneer Hospital

Designated as a Provincial Historic Resource Site, the Reverend Forbes Homestead and Pioneer Hospital is Grande Prairie's oldest log home and the first hospital. The house and hospital were fully restored and opened to the public in 2010 for visitors to view household antiques and primitive medical equipment on display. The Reverend Forbes Homestead is operated by the Grande Prairie Museum and is open during the summer months when guided tours, special events and programs are featured.
