Hop on board and ride free all day on Wednesday, March 18. The City of Grande Prairie invites residents to take transit and show appreciation for our transit workers in recognition of  Transit Operator and Worker Appreciation Day.

Transit workers keep the community moving every day. Behind every trip are operators, dispatch and maintenance staff who help connect residents to work, school, recreation and community spaces across Grande Prairie.

Public transit helps people reach jobs, education, recreation facilities like the Eastlink Centre, and local businesses throughout the downtown core. Even for residents who don’t ride regularly, a strong transit system supports local businesses, community participation and access to opportunities across the city.

“Transit workers play an important role in keeping our community connected,” said City of Grande Prairie Mayor, Jackie Clayton. “Their work supports residents throughout the day and helps people stay connected to the places that matter in their lives. Transit Operator and Worker Appreciation Day is a great opportunity to thank a transit worker and hop on board for a free ride. If you haven’t tried transit before, it’s a great day to give it a try.”

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of free transit fares during Transit Operator and Worker Appreciation Day on March 18 to explore local routes, visit local destinations or try transit for the first time.
