Delegations 

The City of Grande Prairie presented a cheque to the local Special Olympics chapter as a legacy of the 2025 Special Olympics Alberta Summer Games.

Holly Sorgen, Executive Director of Community Futures Grande Prairie & Region provided an update on Community Futures activities and community impact, along with plans to celebrate the organization’s 40 year Anniversary. Council received this presentation for information.

Helping Hands – A Division of Northreach Society provided an update to council about the Food Equity Leadership Table, as well as an update about trends in the community. Council received this presentation for information. 

The Working Group of the University of Alberta Masters of Science Physiotherapy Grande Prairie Satellite Program requested support from the City of Grande Prairie in the form of advocacy to local, regional and provincial levels of government to highlight the vast benefits a Satellite Physiotherapy program would have for rural Northern Alberta. Council directed the Mayor to write a letter in support of the Satellite Physiotherapy program.

Grander Winter Strategy

Council adopted the Grander Winter Strategy as presented. 

2025 Disclosure of Wrongdoing Annual Report

Council received the 2025 Disclosure of Wrongdoing Annual Report for information as amended.

2025 Volunteer Awards

Council approved the presentation of 2025 Volunteer Awards, recognizing Margaret Bowes with the George Repka Outstanding Achievement Award and the Grande Prairie Firefighters Charitable Foundation with the Bill Bowes Volunteer Organization Award.

Utility Bylaw Amendment C-1365F

Aquatera is proposing adjustments in the rate schedule for 2026 based on the 2026 business plan and capital program; these rate adjustments are determined by the 2026-2029 business plan and capital budget. The proposed utility bylaw also includes amendments to the Cross Connection Control Program to further enhance protection of our region’s water services and other housekeeping revisions.

Council gave three readings to Bylaw C-1365F, being an amendment to the Utility Bylaw. 

Public Member Appointments 

Council rescinded the appointment of Traci Bednard to the Grande Prairie Airport Commission. 

Council appointed Melissa Radu to the Grande Prairie Airport Commission for a term ending December 31, 2028.
