The Grande Prairie Outdoor Pool has officially closed for the season after a successful first summer of operations.
The facility opened for the season on Saturday, July 4 with limited operations to maintain provincial health regulations around COVID-19. With these limitations in place, the facility still saw 411 bookings with an average of 25 people per booking for an estimated 10,275 visitors this summer.
A successful partnership with Big Brothers & Big Sisters enabled the pool to provide free swim for youth 2x a day, 4 days/week for 8 weeks, for an estimated 1600 youth. Funding for this was made possible through the Don Gillies Legacy Fund.
The City of Grande Prairie thanks the community for their support in making it a successful swim season and cooperation in keeping the staff and facility safe following all of the COVID–19 protocols.
