The City is encouraging residents who want to impact local decisions to apply for openings on City boards, committees or commissions.

Public members help review issues, consider options, look at impacts and provide advice that supports informed, transparent and accountable outcomes. It is a way for residents to contribute to solutions and help build a stronger community.

“Civic participation can take many forms. Serving on a City board is a meaningful way to get involved and contribute to good decision making in our community,” said City of Grande Prairie Mayor Jackie Clayton. “Residents who share their knowledge, experience and perspective help shape Grande Prairie in ways that benefit us all.”

Opportunities are available on the following boards, committees, and commissions:

  • Assessment Review Board – five positions
  • Combative Sports Commission – seven positions
  • Community Advisory Committee – two positions
  • Community Knowledge Campus Advisory Committee – seven positions
  • Grande Prairie Airport Commission – three positions
  • Grande Prairie Public Library Board – four positions
  • Joint Appeals Board – three positions

The application deadline is November 21, 2025.

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and meet the skills, abilities, and experience requirements for the position they are applying for. Representatives from the public are appointed by City Council from a pool of applicants.

Terms begin in January 2026. More information about each group, including responsibilities and expectations, is available at cityofgp.com/boards.
