The City has been notified of a release into the wetlands adjacent to the Lakeland Off Leash Dog Park.
We are advising users to not allow their dogs into the water at this time. Please avoid the area if possible.

A sample of the material has been taken for testing. We are unable to confirm what it is at this time.
Update June 8 - 4:00 p.m.
The City has confirmed the release was a hydrocarbon based product. Animals and people could become sick if they come in contact with the water. Caution tape and signage are being installed in the affected area. The City is following up with regulatory agencies to determine the next steps.
Update June 9 - 4:20 p.m.
The City continues to determine the extent of the hydrocarbon release. Booms are in place to contain the material, which protects the wetland from any further contamination.
We appreciate the public's interest in this matter and appreciate everyone's patience and cooperation as we find a solution.
The public is asked to stay out of the area marked off with caution tape and signage. Further, dog park users are asked to continue to keep pets out of the wetland.
