The City of Grande Prairie invites residents, businesses and road users to learn more about proposed improvements to the intersection of 100 Avenue and 108 Street (Highway 40).
The City is conducting a functional planning study to identify improvements that support traffic flow, reduce travel delays and enhance safety as Grande Prairie continues to grow. The study reviewed 30 intersection design options before shortlisting two preferred alternatives: a displaced left-turn intersection and a conventional signalized intersection.
“This intersection is vital part of the daily commute for many residents and is an important transportation connection for business and industry.” Said City of Grande Prairie Mayor, Jackie Clayton. “Hearing from the people who use it regularly will help us better understand how the intersection functions today and the considerations that are important to the community.”
Community comments gathered during this phase of engagement will help provide local context and perspective as the study team finalizes its recommendations. The recommended plan will then be presented to City Council for consideration in 2027. This is a planning study only, and no construction is planned at this time.
Residents are invited to attend an in-person engagement session on Monday, Oct. 26, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Eastlink Centre, where they can connect with the project team, learn more about the proposed options and share their comments.
