The City of Grande Prairie 2024 Municipal Census results are available now with key findings including a population of 70,385 people, an average age of 35.3 years, and a strong retention rate with over 80 per cent of residents having lived in the City for two or more years.
“Conducting a census is a crucial step in ensuring that we have up to date demographics and information. These numbers are vital for us to receive accurate funding through Provincial and Federal funding streams and help us make strategic decisions that enhance the quality of life for everyone in Grande Prairie,” said Grande Prairie Mayor Jackie Clayton. “We are confident our community’s entrepreneurial spirit, innovative mindset, and strong sense of pride have driven us forward. It’s inspiring to see how many people are making Grande Prairie their home.”
The census results indicate that Grande Prairie has maintained steady growth over the past few years, with an average annual population increase of 3.1 per cent since 2021. This highlights the City's resilience and ability to thrive amid unique economic circumstances.
