(Grande Prairie, Alta. – September 29, 2026) – Swimmers can get ready to return to the Eastlink Centre as the aquatics area reopens on Thursday, October 1 following the completion of its annual maintenance shutdown.

The annual shutdown provides dedicated time to complete work that cannot be done while the aquatics area is operating. The pool sees approximately 141,000 visitors each year, in addition to swimming lesson participants and swim club users, making regular maintenance an important part of keeping the space ready for year-round use.

Work completed during this year’s shutdown included maintenance and repairs to pool filters, process piping and the 25-metre pool and hot pools. Waterslide inspections and maintenance were also completed, along with work on the FlowRider, lighting, tile and grout and change room shower mixing valves. Warranty repairs were completed on the lazy river liner.

“Eastlink Centre’s aquatics area is an important part of our community, welcoming thousands of guests each year,” said Recreation Director, Angela Redding.  “We’re excited to welcome swimmers back to a safe, clean and well-maintained space where they can enjoy everything the facility has to offer.”

While most of the aquatics area will reopen October 1, the wading pool and splash pad will remain closed for approximately two additional weeks while work in that area is completed. Barriers will remain in place around the work area, and visitors are asked to be mindful of the active work taking place nearby. An update will be shared once a reopening date is confirmed.
